Our Money, Our Planet: Participatory Budgeting and Climate Change
Jez HallCopeland Suite
We will discuss the democratic empowerment process called participatory budgeting (PB), and most importantly a new initiative to connect PB and the new green deal.
That is, how to use PB to mobilise, engage and empower individuals and communities to respond to climate change, especially in neighbourhoods, local authorities and cities that have declared a climate emergency and also have high levels of marginalised or disengaged people.
We will link this with the current calls for deliberative democracy, such as citizens inquiries and other forms of mini-publics, to address issues such as climate change, well-being or even brexit!
